Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated one million US Dollars to the UN Refugee Agency, to help displaced people in Pakistan. The donation, which was given through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, will help provide medical aid and food for refugees in Pakistan. The head of the refugee agency, António Guterres, thanked the foundation for its assistance, calling Pakistan's plight ‘the most challenging humanitarian crisis of the past decade,’ as more than 2 million people are currently displaced in the country.
According to American magazine People, Angelina and Brad have had a busy week of charity work.
Earlier this week, they opened the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center, named after Brad's mother, in his hometown of Springfield. And today Angelina will talk about her work aiding refugees when she meets Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to mark World Refugee Day in Washington D.C.
The Jolie-Pitts are reported to be staying in Los Angeles for the next few months, while Brad films new movie Moneyball. Directed by Steven Sondebergh, the movie is due for release in 2011.
