The singer is being praised by healthcare professionals for being a great role model

Beyonce has been spotted breastfeeding baby Blue Ivy in public and her motherly behaviour has been praised by advocates of nursing.

According to US Weekly, Beyonce publicly breastfed her baby daughter as she and husband Jay-Z enjoyed some lunch at Saint Ambroeus cafe and espresso bar in New York City.

Experts are now praising Bey for her actions and hoping that someone of her profile could help to take away some of the stigma surrounding breastfeeding in public.

Emma Kwasnica, a childbirth and breastfeeding educator, told abc News: 'I think Beyonce has a huge impact on being able to re-normalize breastfeeding and give women confidence to do the same.

'Images of pop stars and celebrities giving their babies nourishment will never harm our cause.'

Beyonce, Jay-Z and baby Blue's trip to the NYC eaterie was the family's first public outing together and the next day Bey even left her husband at home and went for a stroll by herself with Blue, and a burly bodyguard, of course.
