Benedict Cumberbatch and wife Sophie Hunter are expecting their second child

The couple welcomed their first child, Christopher, just over a year ago

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter have some very exciting news – their family will soon be expanding as it has been revealed that they are expecting their second child together.

The pair welcomed their first child, a son named Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch, a little over a year ago in June 2015. In that same year, they were married in a private Valentine's Day ceremony on the Isle of Wight – so romantic.

The star is currently promoting his latest film, Doctor Strange, in which he stars as Marvel's newest big screen superhero, alongside Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejofor.

There was never any doubt that Benedict would make a great father in the eyes of his friends and family. 'If he puts the same amount of dedication and love into raising his child as he does into his work, he is going to be the greatest dad of all time' his The Imitation Game co-star Allen Leech previously said back when the couple were expecting their first child.

As yet, there are no details on when Sophie is due, or on the baby's gender, so you'll have to watch this space for those. However, we're sure his or her arrival will come around very quickly for the couple, and we bet they just can't wait to meet their new bundle of joy.
