Now Barbie's Boyfriend Ken Has Been Given A Body Type Makeover

Last week toy giant Mattel announced that Barbie would come in three different body types - tall, petite and curvy - for the first time ever, along with a new variety of skin tones, hair styles and outfits.
But what about Ken?
Mattel did not announce any plans to alter Barbie's boyfriend's body type - which features a pretty perfect six pack - so in response fashion company Lyst have stepped up to the plate to design their very own range of Kens. The results, featuring Dadbod Ken, Hipster Ken and Balding Ken, are rather brilliant:
Sadly there are no current plans to send these dolls into production, though the clothes worn by the various Kens are available to buy from Lyst.
Meanwhile, the newly diverse Barbie will go on sale here in the Spring. Richard Dickinson, President and COO of Mattel said “Barbie has reflected the world girls see around them. Her ability to evolve and grow with the times, while remaining true to her spirit, is central to why Barbie has remained the number one fashion doll in world.”
With her long blonde hair, pale skin and a BMI that would be dangerously low (16.24) if she was an actual human being, the original Barbie never felt particularly inclusive.

And with a boom in sales of healthier looking dolls - such as the Lottie Doll, which features a more realistic body shape, practical clothes and no make-up - Barbie has increasingly come under fire for being outdated.
