The excited pair released a statement saying they were ‘delighted’ by the happy news.
'We were thrilled and delighted to be able to tell Alastair that he was going to be the big brother to a little baby, expected just before Mummy's 40th birthday,' Penny Lancaster said yesterday.
And friends reveal the couple – who were holidaying in Italy when they broke the news to friends and family – can’t contain their excitement.
'They are over the moon, they have wanted this for so long,' one source said.
