Ashley Cole: 'My life has been ruined'

Ashley Cole has spoken out for the first time since his split from Cheryl, saying his life is in ruins

After keeping quiet on his split from wife Cheryl, Ashley Cole finally broke his silence yesterday, exclaiming 'my life has been ruined'.

The 29-year-old Chelsea footballer is holed up in a French sports rehabilitation clinic, where he is receiving treatment for a broken ankle.

Emerging from his balcony to see waiting press below he shouted: 'Why doesn't everyone just leave me alone? Just **** off, my life has been ruined.'

Friends claim that although Cole has been spotted without his wedding ring, he was still clinging to the hope that his wife might take him back.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source from within the clinic revealed: 'He spends most of his time texting on his mobile phone and calling his family... It sounds like he is doing everything he can to try and turn things around at home... He seems like a little boy lost.'

Cheryl's management confirmed that the couple were splitting last week, after a string of women came forward claiming that they had enjoyed flings with the footballer.

The X Factor judge is yet to comment, and has cancelled a series of television appearances to promote her new single Parachutes, in the aftermath.
