The shameless star is expecting her first baby, with husband James McAvoy

Hollywood star James McAvoy and his actress wife Anne-Marie Duff are expecting their first baby.

The pair met on the set of Channel Four show Shameless and married in a quiet ceremony in 2006, eschewing celebrity magazine deals in favour of a small family gathing.

The couple has made no secret of wanting a bouncing bundle of joy in the past and were delighted to make their happy announcement.

'I would love to have a baby,' Anne-Marie said at a recent event.

Pointing towards the heavens, the star added: 'As soon as the big fella makes it happen, it would be brilliant. I'm not putting it off but unfortunately bodies don't work that way.'

But it seems all their prayers have been answered, as their spokesman confirmed yesterday the celeb couple are expecting.

The talented twosome stepped out on the red carpet at the premiere of James' new film, The Last Station, last night and the gorgeous mum-to-be to be looked positively glowing in a stunning Escada dress.
