Anne Hathaway beat Jennifer Aniston in the hair poll

Anne Hathaway's pixie crop in Les Miserables has been voted the most influential film haircut of all time, beating Jennifer Aniston.

Jen's beachy locks have long been considered one of the best haircuts in showbiz, but now Anne's elfin crop has knocked her from the top spot.

A poll of 1,000 people by the Hairdressing Council of Great Britain and Universal Pictures placed Jen’s long curly style in Along Came Polly in second place behind Anne's crop in Les Miserables.

Audrey Hepburn’s up-do in 1963 film Charade finished third in the poll, while Veronica Lake’s long, wavy style in The Blue Dahlia was fourth.

Molly Ringwald’s red-headed bob in John Hughes’s classic comedy The Breakfast Club was voted in fifth place.

The poll also discovered that one in ten women had changed their hairstyle thanks to a moment of inspiration whilst watching a DVD and Blu-ray. Celebrity hairdresser Charles Worthington said: 'Film can inspire people to do many things and in particular change the way they look.

'The versatility of Jennifer Aniston’s cut ensures it appeals to so many people while there really is nothing like an up do for that Hollywood glamour as sported by Hepburn.'
