Anne Hathaway has explained publicly why she choose not to wear a design from her friend, Valentino, to the Oscars
Anne Hathaway’s fashion friendship with Valentino was once so secure she had the designer create her wedding dress, but the actress’ decision not to wear the label at the Oscars on Sunday has caused upset at the fashion house forcing her to issue a statement explaining her motives.
ANNE HATHAWAY WINS BIG AT OSCARS
Anne looked simply sensational as shewalked the red carpet in a pale pink Prada column dress ahead of receiving her Best Supporting Actress Oscar but not everyone was impressed. Just before the event Valentino issued a press release informing the fashion world they would be dressing the star.
At the time, Anne explained her choice saying: ‘I didn’t know what I was wearing until two hours ago. I tried on a lot of dresses, but at the end of the day, I loved the simplicity of it.'
After causing controversy with her unintended Valentino snub, Anne Hathaway was forced to issue a statement on Tuesday explaining her choice of Oscars dress.

Her publicist, Stephen Huvane, released the statement that read:
‘It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans. Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.’
It’s not known which other Valentino dress Anne is referring to although Jennifer Aniston wore a red strapless gown from the label to the Oscars.
As a long-term collaborators, we hope Valentino and Anne Hathaway can patch things up.
