Andrej Pejic Cast In Sofia Coppola's The Little Mermaid: Consider Our Interest Piqued...
Andrej Pejic has been cast as 'Sister #4' in the new adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

Andrej Pejic has been cast as 'Sister #4' in the new adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
Sofia Coppola is directing a new adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid and, if The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation are anything to go by, Coppola’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid will be très chic.
The director and fashion darling has already begun giving the story her uber-indie treatment by casting androgynous model Andrej Pejic as one of Ariel’s sisters.
The 22-year-old model, who lives between genders (Pejic was born male but prefers female pronouns and doesn’t have any plans to have surgery), has conquered the womenswear catwalks and has now been selected as the first cast member for Coppola's latest endeavour. According to IMDB, Pejic will play 'Sister #4'.
This isn’t the first time Coppola, who’s modelled for Marc Jacobs herself, has cast a fashion model in one of her films. Erin Wasson, Maryna Linchuk and Angela Lindvall all appear in Somewhere.
And this isn't the first time Pejic's made the transition from catwalk to screen. She appeared in David Bowie's The Stars (Are Out Tonight) along side Tilda Swinton, and in a Turkish television series Fatih.
We can’t wait to see what else Sofia’s got up her sleeve…
