She’s married to one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, is starring in this month’s The Danish Girl and is rumoured to be cast as the next superhero in DC's Justice League. Meet Marie Claire's February cover star…
Amber Heard is having quite a year. Only a month into 2016, the blonde Texan beauty has celebrated her one year anniversary with husband Johnny Depp, landed her biggest role to date in the Golden Globe-nominated The Danish Girl and *now* is rumoured to be joining Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill in DC's must-see blockbuster Justice League.
Here are 5 things you might not have known about our February cover star…
You May Have Seen Her In Not One, But TWO Music Videos
Moving from her Texas hometown at the age of 17, Amber started her screen career in Los Angeles, landing appearances in two very different music videos. One, in country singer – and Renée Zellweger’s ex – Kenny Chesney’s There Goes My Life in 2003, and another in indie rock band Eisley’s 2004 tune I Wasn’t Prepared. Let’s just say, you need to see these for yourself... (above)
She’s Kind Of A Scream Queen
Amber first made waves by starring in 2006’s All The Boys Love Mandy Lane, which saw her play a beautiful wallflower stalked by a serial killer. Proving her 'final girl' chops, the actress was then cast in horror icon John Carpenter's 2010 horror flick The Ward. Lucky for Amber, her bad luck on-screen didn't translate off-screen...

She’s Married To One Of The Biggest Stars In Hollywood
Meeting on the set of 2011’s The Rum Diary, Amber became close friends with her famous co-star Johnny Depp. Johnny and Amber made their relationship official in 2012, appearing on many a red carpet and marrying in a private ceremony in February 2015 at their LA home. After the marriage, Amber then became stepmum to rising It-girl Lily-Rose Depp, telling Marie Claire, 'It's an honour and the greatest, most surprising gift I have ever received in my life…I'm so happy.'
Activism Is Really Close To Her Heart
After going public as a bisexual in 2010, Amber has used her fame to highlight gay rights, saying in Marie Claire that ‘So much needs to change’. Her activism has also led her to shed light on other causes, such as the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which fits more than 200 hearing aids for free, and Habitat for Humanity.
The Queen Of Atlantis Could Be Her Next Big Role

Though she has quite a few films on her slate already in 2016, Amber isn't slowing down anytime soon. She's already looking to star in her next blockbuster - this time in DC's Avengers-like team up Justice League. Following Batman V Superman, and Wonder Woman, Justice League will see the superheroes banding together, introducing new characters like Game Of Thrones' very own Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) as Aquaman. Amber is reportedly up for the role of Mera, a water-controlling superhero who is also Aquaman's love interest and eventual Queen of Atlantis.
Suffice it to say, we're excited.
