It's been a rather good couple of weeks for Brit star Adele. On the back of receiving six Grammy Award nominations, her phenomenal album 21 has been crowned the biggest-selling of the century.

This will no doubt be welcome news for the singer who recently went under the knife for throat surgery, forcing her to scrap all her concerts and appearances for the rest of the year.

21, Adele's second album, has been in the top 10in the charts for 45 weeks, an impressive feat considering it was released just 10 months ago.

The critically acclaimed album set a new record of 3.4 million sales, overtaking Amy Winehouse's Back to Black which had 3.3 million sales.

The late Amy Winehouse's hit album had a surge in sales following her death in July.
