Now that the fanfare over who will be playing Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in 50 Shades of Grey the movie has subsided somewhat, author E.L. James can focus her attentions on other, equally important business: drinking.
The British writer has parlayed her wildly successful erotic book series, which has sold over 70 million copies worldwide, into two 'personally blended' bottles of 50 Shades Wine, called Red Satin and White Silk, the result of a collaboration with winemakers in California.
The red wine mixes Syrah and Petite Sirah grapes, and is described as having flavours of 'black cherry, cocoa powder, creamy caramel and vanilla, leather and clove spice,' while the white wine, a Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc, features 'floral aromatics of lychee and honey, tempered by flavours of crisp grapefruit, mineral and lush pear with a faint hint of butterscotch.'
According to James, who also teamed up with US retailer target to launch a 50 Shades-inspired lingerie collection:
'Wine plays an important role in Fifty Shades of Grey, adding to the sensuality that pervades a number of scenes.'
