A decade of twitter rants, typos and probably some tweeting under the influence…we look back at some of our absolute favourite fails...
Over the past 10 years there have been some pretty memorable twitter fails (hate to break it to you Kanye, but you’ve outdone yourself and well, everyone, over the decade), but don’t worry you’re not alone.
From SuBo accidentally inviting everyone to an anal bum party instead of her album party, to Amanda Bynes’ infamous ‘ugly rant’ targeting everyone from Zac Efron to the Obamas, there’s plenty of awkwardness to comment on.
So, to celebrate Twitter’s 10th birthday (yes, we feel as old writing that as you do reading it), we have compiled some of our favourite celebrity twitter fails, commemorating a decade of ill-received jokes, catty digs, unnecessary profoundness and accidental dick pics.
Disclaimer: The below tweets are painfully cringe-worthy, but if you manage to lift your head up from your hands for long enough to read them through, you will see what a magical decade the twittersphere has seen.
Not to mention you will truly thank your lucky stars that you do not have millions of followers to snapshot an accidental/ regretful tweet and never let you forget about it… ever.
With that being said, here are some of the best… The infamous Susan Boyle hashtag mess up: #susanalbumparty

The day when SuBo’s album party propaganda went horrifically wrong – we dread to think where her PR manager works now…
Rita Ora asking for 100,000 retweets and getting…well, 1000…
Rita’s 2014 promo fail when after promising to ‘drop her new beat’ if she got 100,000 likes, her followers didn’t pull through. She has since claimed that she was hacked… Amanda Bynes’ ugly rant – targeting everyone from Miley and Rihanna to the Obamas
Amanda Bynes has become known for her controversial tweets, her ‘ugly rant’ being the most infamous, targeting innocent celebs and even going so far as to tell Rihanna that the reason for Chris Brown beating her up was because she’s not pretty enough…Oh Amanda…
Ed Balls tweeting his own name and thereby creating Ed Balls Day
In an attempt to search himself on twitter in 2011, the Labour politician, accidentally tweeted his own name, creating an internet phenomenon and starting an unofficial holiday referred to by the internet as ‘Ed Balls Day’, celebrated every April 28th. Ed Miliband’s typo – commemorating the death of the creator of ‘Blackbusters’
In 2012 the ex labour leader was left red-faced after making a bit of a twitter blunder, marking the death of Bob Holness, the host of Blockbusters with an unfortunate typo, coming the day after Labour found itself in a race row…Oh Ed… Kim Kardashian’s Giorgio Armani typo while tweeting…Armani
That time when fashion-forward Kim misspelt Giorgio Armani’s name and was called out and corrected for all the world to see…by Armani.
Kourtney Kardashian asking questions that she just should have Googled
That time when Kourtney took to twitter to inquire as to whether ants have dicks, confusing people everywhere...
Charlie Sheen giving his mobile number to, well…everyone
That fateful day when Charlie Sheen published his mobile number on the social media site for all the world to see, intending to just DM it to Justin Bieber. We’ve all been there Charlie… Lindsay Lohan asking Obama to lower taxes for millionaires
It’s safe to say that everyone cringed when LiLo tweeted Obama demanding taxes to be lowered for ‘millionaires’. It brought back the same feelings of when she asked for everyone to remain positive to make the hurricane stop quicker. Shhh Lindsay! 50 Cent offending everyone with his thoughts on foreign brides
Oh 50 Cent! The next time you come up with a joke that will offend everyone on every level, do not share it on twitter.
Donald Trump tweeting, well, anything…
What do you get when you cross Donald Trump and twitter? So much controversy and offence, particularly when he slated Arianna Huffington, not cool Mr Trump.
Sarah Palin trying to be Shakespeare
No Sarah Palin, those new words are not going to catch on, and also please do not compare yourself to Shakespeare… Kanye West’s warning about abortions and his tweets on well, everything.
We struggled to pick a Kanye twitter fail because as much as we love him, there are heaps to choose from. This one was particularly insulting and regretful though, at least this time he didn’t justify it by claiming to get emotional over fonts… Perez Hilton almost going to court for posting a Miley Cyrus picture
He did warn to not click if we were easily offended but in our defence posting a picture of 17-year old Miley’s crotch is quite offensive and for a while it was unsure whether he might go to jail for child pornography. Surely that counts as a fail… Shia Leboeuf tweeting everyday for weeks ‘I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE’
We still have yet to understand this tweet. If the Transformers actor really wanted to stop being famous, why did he draw so much attention to himself by posting this message 22 times? When Mary J Blige forgot to proof read her tweet…
Oh the irony Mary J, next time get someone to proof read! When Lee from Blue got all deep and no one knew what to do
We love you Lee but save the profoundness for your song lyrics, twitter is not the place.
