The oil that has the royal – and beauty desk's – seal of approval...
News that one of our favourite organic oils is being used by mother-to-be Kate Middleton has reached our ears. While the beauty desk have long championed Trilogy's Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, £16, for its moisturising, softening, brightening and scar-reducing properties, we were nonetheless pleased to hear that the Duchess of Cambridge is adopting a natural approach during her pregnancy to keep her skin in tip-top shape; minimising exposure to chemicals in skincare and switching instead to a paraben and toxin-free skincare regime is recommended by The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists when pregnant. For more organic and natural products, head over to our sister site, Powder.
Kate's choice is the hero product of the Trilogy range and is more than a decade old. Since its release it has amassed a cult following with Anna Friel, Miranda Kerr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham and David Gandy all singing its praises. The diversity of its fan base is unsurprising: rosehip oil is renowned for reducing wrinkles, stretch marks and scars and brightening, ameliorating dryness and tackling uneven skin and is therefore ideal for all skin types, sexes and age groups. As if that weren't enough, we've been reliably informed that it also makes for a brilliant split-end tamer and ultra-luxurious hand and body moisturiser.
A note on application: make sure skin is thoroughly cleansed (we love Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, £36) and lightly exfoliate with a muslin cloth, before warming the oil in your palms and then gently patting on to areas of concern. If using to moisturise, maximise the benefits with a gentle facial massage to really allow the benefits of the essential fatty acids and vitamins to penetrate. We promise that even if you don't have that pregnancy glow, you'll have pretty radiant skin after a week's use!
