"Sexture" is THE hair trend we'll be wearing all summer

When it’s the height of summer and temperatures climb towards the triple digits, the absolute last thing anybody wants is to worry about keeping their hair perfect and shiny and prim. Fortunately, the latest summer hair trend is all about keeping it natural — and even a lil’ bit messy.
It’s called “sexture,” and it’s essentially a version of bedhead. The idea is to craft a style that looks like you’ve just spent the day in bed with your partner and have now risen to go about your day as a casual sex-haired goddess. Given that pin straight, slicked-down hair went out of vogue in the early aughts, “sexture” fits right in with the current hair culture (which is really all about embracing natural hair texture).
According to Marie Claire, the term “sexture” was coined by Kat Zemtsova. Kat is a NYC-based hair artist and editorial hairstylist, and her Tumblr is basically a hair lover’s dream. So much pretty.
She’s given pro hairstylist tips to tons of mags and companies including Marie Claire, Byrdie, Seventeen, and Birchbox, so she clearly knows what she’s talking about when she pinpoints sexture as the next big thing.
The main ingredient in achieving this hairstyle is sweat (not sex, despite the name — sexture just doesn’t have the same ring to it). So, really, it’s perfect for brutal summer weather. As Zemtsova tells Marie Claire, the key to achieving sexture is embracing imperfection.

'No matter what kind of hair type you have, it’s all about imperfection that doesn’t lay flat—it’s sexy, messy, and piece-y texture that moves. It’s basically the antithesis of stiff waves or sausage curls.'
The end result is wavy, texturized, full hair that, most importantly, is not uniformly wavy or curly.
