Princess Diana's makeup artist reveals the one thing she would never wear
Make-up artist Mary Greenwell is known for working with some of the most famous people in the world. Not only does she have names like Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham under her brush belt, she has also trained none other than Charlotte Tilbury and Lisa Eldridge.
Perhaps her most famous celebrity client, however, would have to be Princess Diana. Greenwell worked with the royal for years and in an interview with Yahoo back in 2017, Mary admitted that she was the one who convinced Diana to shake up her signature blue liner.
'I think beiges and browns are just so much prettier. Simple as that,' she confessed.
But she was keen to keep the rest of Diana’s look almost exactly the same.
Mary continued: 'She was someone who was in the public eye presenting herself all the time to the public. It isn’t particularly appropriate to go on changing your look every five seconds. She did change her makeup a bit. It’s just that it wasn’t changed dramatically. I think dramatic change is not really something for somebody who’s in the White House or in office or in a royal family, as it’s just not really appropriate.
'She felt no need to be showy, so she kept her makeup subtle and appropriate for the occasion. She loved to exaggerate her gorgeous eyes and wear loads of mascara.'
Earlier this month, Greenwell told Hello! that there's one thing Diana would never have tried - and that's false eyelashes.

She said: 'You would never have tried something so bold such as false lashes, for example. Why would you risk making her feel bad by doing something she wouldn’t like?'
And she also told the publication that while Diana liked to keep things stripped back she didn't actually have a go-to beauty look.
Greenwell continued: 'When I did her makeup, she only wanted touches that brought out and enhanced her beauty.
'You would never do something so bold on someone of her beauty and calibre. You just want to enhance them to make them look as best as possible whilst looking herself. It would perhaps vary slightly depending on whether a day or evening look and the type of event she was going to, but always just bringing out her existing features.'
So that's the beauty icon's secret...
