8 amazing ways to style your natural hair
Own it
Own it
There’s no doubt you’ve noticed a global movement of women owning their natural hair, whether it’s been embracing free flowing curls, using particular techniques to express themselves or simply tying it up, women are moving away from the textures that have been pressed upon them for years (with the help of the best afro hair products out there).
You just need to look to the afro hair on the catwalk the past seasons to se that natural hair is not having a ‘moment’, it’s finally being celebrated like it should be. Words like ‘individuality’ were heard time and time again backstage with models at shows like Prada, Burberry Prorsum and Celine all sporting their hair in its natural glorious state.
Celebrities are also rejoicing in their natural hair. Alicia Keys recently stepped onto the red carpet sans makeup with her curly locks tied up into a head scarf, Janelle Monae shaped hers into a cute crop, Jada Pinkett Smith braided hers into a masterpiece and singer, Brandy, literally added a twist to her long hair by twisting it to create a braid effect.
Short ‘dos are all a go too, with celebrities creating graduated effects by shaving their hair at the nape of their neck and allowing it to become thicker as it gets to the top. Even simple headbands can create a whole new shape, as can sleek sides, which pushes the volume to the top to create a rockabilly-esque quiff.
And if you’re looking to leave your hair as natural as possible but want to add a bit of something, try going a few shades lighter you’re your natural colour like Fleur East and switch up your parting by flicking your hair to the side. If you’re looking for natural hair inspiration, look no further, because these celebrities have you covered…
