Produced by Heathrow Airport and World Duty Free, the report pools data from the airport’s mammoth beauty hall sales (with over 200,000 people passing through every day, there’s surely no better authority to tell what’s trending with global shoppers?)
Our favourite take away is this fabulous map of the world’s favourite lip colours. Sales to women living in 50 key cities and style destinations were analysed to get the picture, offering a brilliant insight into the world’s biggest beauty trends.
Et voilà! (Take a closer look and explore the whole report, here)
While the majority of the UK is lit in a kind of poppy red, the report’s further breakdown reveals that ‘Caramel Nude’ is London’s top-selling shade, citing Kate Moss, Keira Knightley and The Duchess of Cambridge as our ‘easy beauty’ muses.
New Yorkers favour a classic red (influenced by Taylor Swift) while women in Nairobi prefer burgundy, Athens do fuchsia and Rome loves a golden plum.

Kim Kardashian is credited with starting a trend for rose pink tones in Dubai, while actress Liu Wen has helped make sheer coral a hit in Shanghai.
‘Heathrow is not only one of the world’s biggest airports, it’s a beauty mecca,’ the report says. ‘With over 120 brands, 12,500 beauty products and 1,451 lipsticks, it’s home to Europe’s largest beauty range under one roof.’
As our favourite affordable luxury item, it’s no wonder Mintel reported sales of lipstick in the UK had reached £137 million last year, up from £126 million in 2012.
So what do you think of the data? Are you wearing the most popular shade in your city, or are you considering re-locating to be with your own lip colour kind?
