Hurrah for the new season, although to be honest we never need an excuse to try something new with our hair. Here’s five looks, hot off the Spring/Summer catwalks with how-to tips, courtesy of the styling folks at Aveda.
Add An Accessory The catwalks were awash with decorative hair details from the sleek buckles at Celine to the floral at Dolce and Gabbana. 'Work the look with a half-up, half-down style and clip hair with a metallic barrette at the back for instant grown–up, summer chic as seen at Tibi.'
The Low Pony Take inspiration from the Stella McCartney and Ann Yee shows and keep your ponytail on the down low. 'Prep hair with Aveda Pure Abundance™ style-prep™ to add volume and texture and blow-dry smooth using an Aveda paddle brush. Fasten hair at the nape of the neck and smooth over lengths with straighteners.'
Slick it back Not just for the poolside, slicked back hair is a style statement. For a city take on the look, slick back the middle section (like the models at Miu Miu) and leave the lengths loose and undone. 'Take a section about five inches wide and an inch thick at the front of the hairline. Use straighteners to create an extra smooth surface. Pin the section back flat against the head then spritz generously with Aveda Brilliant™ Spray-on Shine for a high-sheen, wet-look finish.'
The Centre Part There's only one way to part hair right now and that's bang down the middle like the girls at Burberry, Chanel, Chloe, Saint Laurent and Gucci - in other words, all the big beauty trend-setting shows. 'Use a fine tooth comb to create a neat part and for help in the hold department, spritz with Aveda Air Control™ Hairspray.'

Fairy Hair Think slept-on hair with a lovely lived-in texture. With the warmer weather on the way it's the perfect excuse to embrace your natural texture. 'Prep hair with Aveda Pure Abundance™ style-prep™ and rough dry hair. Twist sections with your fingers as you dry to encourage a relaxed wave. Apply Aveda Pure Abundance™ Hair Potion to dry lengths and use your palms to lightly rub into the hair to encourage the 'fairy' texture.'
