The UK’s first ever zero-waste beauty brand has just landed
One giant leap for sustainability...
One giant leap for sustainability...
In an age where we care more about sustainable beauty than ever before, it couldn't be better timing for the UK to welcome its first zero waste beauty brand.
Ethique is currently the only beauty brand in the world that's solely devoted to producing zero-waste beauty bars in the place of plastic-packaged, liquid beauty products – and they're now shoppable in the UK.
Every one of Ethique's product is completely handmade, with the line comprising hair, face and body products, all of which are concentrated and last five times longer than their traditional counterparts.
'Up to 75% of [conventional] shampoo and 90% of conditioner can be water,' says Ethique's founder Brianne West. 'Which is just crazy – you have water in your shower! Obviously, water is an important part of the product, but I was interested in what happened if you simply combined the ingredients without it.'
All ingredients are 100% fair trade and sustainably sourced as well as being cruelty-free and vegan, and 20% of the brand's products are donated to wildlife and environmental charities. What's more, the formulas don't contain any palm oil, parabens, sodium lauryl/laureth sulphates or petroleum byproducts.
The brand is certainly making waves when it comes to reducing waste: By 2020, the brand is forecasted to save 10 million plastic bottles from manufacture and landfill.
