Award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (if you’ve not read Americanah, add it to your reading list, stat) has been announced as the new face of Boots No7 range, a move that sees the brand being added to the already huge roster of people who revere the widely inspiring feminist icon.
Chances are, even if you’re yet to read Adichie’s books, you’ve probably heard her inspiring TED talks including Why we should all be feminists and The danger of a single story – which have been watched by millions worldwide - with her words being sampled on Beyoncé’s Flawless (we say sampled, but Adichie's vocals contribute so much to the song itself, that she is listed as ‘featuring artist' on the track).
She recently contributed a ‘thank-you note’ to Michelle Obama for The New York Times 'T Magazine' cover feature, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie speech about feminism may well change your life.
Speaking about her new role, the author outlines the transformative powers of makeup whilst managing to succinctly silence any people that still believe being a feminist and a lover of makeup are mutually exclusive…
‘I love makeup and its wonderful possibilities for temporary transformation. And I also love my face after I wash it all off.
‘There is something exquisitely enjoyable about seeing yourself with a self-made new look. And for me that look is deeply personal. It isn’t about what is in fashion or what the rules are supposed to be. It’s about what I like.

‘What makes me want to smile when I look in the mirror. What makes me feel slightly better on a dull day. What makes me comfortable.’
Hear hear.
The new No7 Boots campaign featuring Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie will be out later this week, and we can't wait...
