Cate Blanchett tells Marie Claire her secret to flawless skin, and it might surprise you. Notepads at the ready, ladies...
Cate Blanchett is one of Hollywood’s most natural beauties, stepping out with no make-up on more time than we care to realise.
Luckily for us, the Blue Jasmine star was keen to share her beauty wisdom when we met her in London as the Global Ambassador of SK-II.
And her tips for flawless skin are easier than you’d think.
Her ultimate beauty tip? ‘Find a good multi-vitamin,’ she told us simply. ‘And for me it’s also consistency.’
‘Being an actress, you have a lot of different products on your skin, and that’s one thing for beauty, but for skincare, I find that the consistency has really paid off for me,’ she explained, having found her go-to products in SK-II's three-step LXP range.
The Oscar-winning star swears by the brand's Facial Treatment Essence, which has recently been revamped along with the rest of the LXP range.

'All of the products have Pitera in them, which no other skincare line has.' Cate explains. 'And it has illuminizing properties, it feeds the roots of your skin, it’s really hydrating and [great for] that dreaded thing, anti-ageing. ‘Working with really great make-up artists, I realised that they prime your skin like a canvas, and I’d never thought of that before. So the moisturiser you put underneath has to work with the foundation.
‘I’m pretty time poor like everyone, so often I won’t put the foundation on - I’ll just prep the skin.’
As if we weren’t envious enough already.
With a hectic schedule to deal with, the busy mum-of-three revealed her best, travel-friendly beauty tip: ‘I decant the SK-II essence and apply it with a spray bottle during the day.’
SK-II is available exclusively on counter at Harrods and online at Harrods.com.
