Chelsea Clinton's Wedding
The happy couple
In the closest thing America has had to a royal wedding, former first daughter Chelsea Clinton married long-term beau, hedge fund manager Marc Mezvinsky, on Saturday 31 July 2010. The couple wed at an ultra-exclusive mansion in Rhinebeck, just north of NYC. And as the only daughter of former president Bill, no expense was spared.
Father of the bride
Former President Bill Clinton looked every inch the proud father as he escorted his only daughter, Chelsea, down the aisle. The father of the bride wore a tuxedo custom designed by Burberry's Christopher Bailey for the occasion.

The proud parents
A thrilled former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton commented on the nuptials of their only daughter via a statement on Saturday night: 'Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends.
'We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day.'
The dress
A glowing Chelsea walked down the aisle in a £16,000 Vera Wang strapless silk organza gown with a draped tulle bodice and an embellished silver belt. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses.

The guests
Chelsea and Marc were married before 500 friends and family on Saturday evening. Much to the delight of the paparazzi, busloads of guests were spotted arriving for the event, with men clad in black tie and women in evening gowns.
The stars
Although the wedding was tipped to feature a guest list reading like a who's who of society and celebrity in the US, the nuptials were relatively light on the A-list quota. It is believed that Stephen Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Hanks and Julianne Moore attended, although one of the only stars to be photographed was family friend Ted Danson.
The rehearsal dinner
The celebrations started early for Chelsea and Marc, with a rehearsal dinner on the Friday night. And as befitting the wedding of a former first daughter, even the pre-party was an event to remember, with a guest list of the couple's three-hundred nearest and dearest in attendance.
The venue
Chelsea and her hubby-to-be weren't short of offers when it came to choosing a location for their nuptials. President Obama reportedly offered them the White House for the special ceremony, while Hollywood actor Ted Danson said they could use his sprawling Martha's Vineyard home. But finally, the couple plumped for romantic Astor Courts, the sprawling former estate of US millionaire John Jacob Astor. Set in Rhinebeck, just North of New York, it overlooks the Hudson River and is often compared to Louis XIV's Grand Trianon at Versailles.
Wedding Invitations
With no expense spared, Chelsea and Marc splashed the cash to make sure no part of their big day was overlooked. So when it came to the invites, only the best would do. The excited pair are rumoured to have spent a whopping £32,000 on stationary for their special day, which not only included invites, but also programmes and even menus.
The flowers
Beautiful flowers don't come cheap (the wedding bill is thought to be around £320,000), and the bride enlisted florist Bostons Winston Flowers to help pick the prettiest buds for her big day. To walk down the aisle, Chelsea carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses.
The cake
What's a wedding without a cake? And isn't bigger always better? Chelsea chose a five-tier sugar fest that stood 5ft tall, that was vegan and gluten-free, due to her dietary requirements. The sweet treat cost a whopping £7,000, but wasn't cut until midnight, as the festivities rolled into the evening.
Wedding rings
When you're proposing to the former president's daughter, it's pretty important the ring's up to scratch. So when Marc Mezvinsky asked for Chelsea's hand in marriage, he commissioned an emerald-cut, $1 million sparkler to seal the deal. She also wore an estimated £160,000 worth of dazzling jewellery on the big day.
The Cost
Yes they were beautiful, but Kate and Jamie's lavish country nuptials didn't come cheap - it's thought the pair splashed out an eye watering £1 million on their special day. And next up comes the honeymoon. The pair were picked up by helicopter from their country pad, with Kate showing off her style credentials once again, in a chic Stella McCartney suit. It's thought the newlyweds could jet off to Thailand or Africa to tour and soak up the sun.
