An indulgent one-bedroom love-nest in the arty heights of Montmartre, perfect for a romantic city break
If Paris is the most romantic city on earth, this is one of its most intimate boltholes.
A gorgeous bedroom whose handmade double bed is tickled by goose-down bedding, translucent drapes and the fronds of a chandelier; a cosy salon with silken chaise longue and dark-wood panelling; a steamy shower room, compact kitchen and tall windows looking onto the bustling lanes of arty Montmartre.
You can just picture Ewan Macgregor and Nicole Kidman holing up here for Le Moulin Rouge (which is only a few blocks away).
At heart it’s just a typical Parisian apartment, set in a 1914 art nouveau apartment block; so you’ll be living among the locals. But alongside original parquet floors and elaborate cornicing, the British owners have added high quality fittings (pocket-sprung mattress, huge shower head), some thoughtful touches ('honesty' library, CD player) and a few sensual whims (a boa-feather lampshade, 'AMOUR' spelled out in big letters on the wall).
The result is an indulgent but unpretentious boudoir, perfect for a couple on a short break in gay Paree.
The Swell Apartment, Paris is a town apartment with one room costing from £90 for room only.
