A buzzy atmosphere and foodie delights, set in the heart of Covent Garden

Where? The Forge, 14 Garrick Street, London, WC2E 9BJ (0207 379 1432; www.theforgerestaurant.co.uk)

The Lowdown: Sitting on the corner of Floral and Garrick street, amid the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden, this chic modern European eatery offers a relaxed, yet buzzy atmosphere and some seriously delicious food. And the setting is fabulous. Think exposed brick meets formal dining room - classy, yet super-cool.

A talented team in the kitchen? Absolutely. Head chef Andrew Barber is one of London's finest, and has worked at The Bleeding Heart and Tate Britain to name but a few. Plus, the Forge is from the same stable as Le Café du Jardin and Le Deuxieme, so before we'd even stepped in the door it was already off to a great start.

What's on the menu? We were astounded by the sheer amount on offer - there really is something for everyone. We struggled to choose between wood pigeon and roasted monkfish tail, but in the end settled on Rissotto Nero with Scallops, Squid and Gremoulata. And we certainly weren't disappointed.

And if I fancy a pud? Well, let us just say it would be an absolute crime not to. Despite feeling oh-so-full after first two courses, we just about magaged a delicious Spiced Apple Tatin with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

What about the wine list? Actually not as pricey as you'd think, and very extensive. There are over 500 wines on the list at the moment, which was certainly enough for us to choose from!

Need to know? The Forge is open seven days a week, serving food between 12am-12pm.
