Diamond Jubilee afternoon tea at The Petersham

Celebrate the best of British with a Jubilee-inspired champagne tea in Richmond
There really is no better way to spend a few hours on a Saturday than indulging in an afternoon tea, especially when it comes with views as stunning as the ones at The Petersham in Richmond.
I have long-wanted to visit The Petersham Hotel, set on top of a hill in the affluent London town, the restaurant looks down over the lush Petersham Meadows and Thames river.
Thankfully, when my mother and I went to try out their special Diamond Jubilee Afternoon Tea, the whole place was bathed in glorious sunshine, making the lovely views even more special, if a little hot in the glass restaurant room!
In celebration of The Queen's 60 years on the throne, The Petersham has created a British-themed afternoon tea, which includes include treats such as Battenberg cake, Fondant Fancies, choux swans, blackberry and strawberry tartlets, fruit cake, scones with clotted cream and jam and a selection of sandwiches - all washed down with a tea of your choice.
For an extra £13 you can make it a Champagne Jubilee Afternoon Tea, which, of course, is what my mother and I did.
The service, sweet treats and tea were all top notch, but what you're really paying for here are the views, which make this an experience to remember.
