The holiday season is significant for a number of reasons, but not all of them centre around celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa. For those with romantic partners, this time of year is perfect for going on dates.
In fact, the most popular day of the year for dating is right around the corner, on New Year’s Day.
As reported by Time, 2017’s busiest day for dates will fall on January 1st. The online dating app, Hinge, predicts a heavy increase of users signing up on that day, citing the info from peak popularity days for the app and popular searches.
But January 1st’s popularity for people who date isn’t new — it’s been going on since 2012.
In fact, on New Year’s Day 2016, there was a 35% increase in new Hinge users. And on New Year’s Day 2015, the amount of phone numbers exchanged on the app went up by 64%.

2017’s New Year’s Day also marks an extra bonus for dating app users: Sunday has been found to be the most popular day for app users to find a match they can actually start a conversation with.
But even if you don’t have a significant other, going on a date on New Year’s Day could have a real impact on your love life in the new year!
