Dealing with exes is tricky. While us normal folk have to fear we might bump into a former flame at the pub (or worse, the gym), for celebrities it can be a whole lot more complicated.
The A-list can’t escape their past thanks to famous ex lovers writing songs, waxing lyrical in interviews, and some even sharing intimate details of their time together. However, many have managed to negotiate the gauntlet of ending a relationship and gone on to say some lovely, brilliant and even poignant things about their old loves.
Whilst some range from the very enigmatic (see: Sean Penn), some comments are just really great. And if you feel all misty-eyed after reading this, have a look at what some celebrities have had to say about heartbreak to really tug at your heart strings.
'[Andrew is] someone I still love very much.' Emma Stone on Andrew Garfield
'We don't see each other that much. I care about him enormously.' Sienna Miller on Jude Law
'[If a relationship] isn’t forever, that doesn’t mean it’s a failure. The important thing is that you have to allow the other person to grow. And if they’re not going in the same direction, however heart-breaking, you have to do what is right for that growth. It’s hard to do something for ever because life is very short.' Helena Bonham Carter
