Research shows 41 per cent of snorers row with partners over noise
Bedtime bickering between partners is a regular occurrence for 41 per cent of snorers, according to a new survey.
It was also found 28 per cent of couples sleep in separate rooms because of the excessive noise.
The survey, conducted by pharmaceutical brand Nytol to coincide with National Stop Snoring Week, looked at 1,134 snorers and their partners and found that around 25 per cent of women and 40 per cent of men frequently snore.
Over 50 per cent of snorers have never tried anything to combat the problem. Dr Chris Idzikowski, director of the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, said: 'While there is no cure for snoring, it can be controlled so it may also be worth discussing options such as anti snoring sprays, humidifiers, mouth guards and nasal passage plasters'.
Arguments aren’t the only drawback to snoring - 21 per cent of snorers also reported feeling constantly tired, 16 per cent felt less productive and 27 per cent were left in bad moods as a result of their snoring.
Dr Idzikowski adds: 'To ensure couples maintain the intimacy of their relationship and prevent snoring from getting in the way of a good night’s sleep, it is important that both the snorer and the partner work together to find a solution.'
