Beware of grazing if you're bored at work as research shows women snack on hundreds of calories
Before you congratulate yourself on having cereal for breakfast and a salad for lunch, have you included the snacks inbetween?
According to a recent survey, the average female office worker consumes around 650 calories on snacks a day, largely due to boredom.
'In an officeenvironment, it can be very easy to give in to snacking on treats available and resisting them can be very difficult,' says Mark Pearson, chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk which compiled the survey.
Nine out of 10 women confessed to snacking on crisps, chocolate and biscuits at their desks, with 51 per cent consuming between 650 and 750 additional calories a day.
A further 2 per cent say they snack throughout the working day, consuming almost half of the Government's 2,000 a day calorie recommendation for women.
While 11 per cent of women say they snack to besociable, 49 per cent gorge on food simply because they get bored. Chocolate was the favourite snack for 41 per cent of women, while fruit and crisps followed closely behind.
