This'll hit the spot

Ella Mills, the food blogger who's pioneered easy healthy eating, has shared the secrets behind her expanded range of energy balls so you can whip some up at home. Of course, if you'd rather do without all the fuss, you can also pick them up ready-made at Wholefoods or Ocado.

Coconut & Oat Energy Ball

About Packed with chewy coconut pieces, sweet dates, creamy oats and a blend of pumpkin and sunflower seeds, this treat will give you the boost of energy you need.

Serving size Makes 10 balls

Ingredients

250g medjool dates

55g gluten free oats

30g sunflower seeds

30g pumpkin seeds

25g desiccated coconut

10g date syrup

Method

Begin by placing the sunflower and pumpkin seeds in the food processor and pulsing until they are nicely crushed.

Add the medjool dates, oats, desiccated coconut and date syrup pulse until it’s fully mixed.

Take a tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a 40g ball.

Continue doing this until the mixture is finished.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Almond & Blueberry Protein Ball

About Our Almond & Blueberry Protein Ball is packed with 8g of plant protein. It’s a perfect post-gym snack made with delicious blueberry pieces and creamy almonds.

Serving size Makes 8 balls

Ingredients

180g medjool dates

65g almond butter

55g almonds

40g hemp protein

35g date syrup

25g freeze dried blueberries (If you can’t find freeze dried blueberries, Ocado sells 100% blueberry powder which will work too.)

Method

Begin by placing the almonds in the food processor and pulsing until they are nicely crushed.

Add the medjool dates, almond butter, hemp protein, date syrup and freeze dired blueberries and pulse until it’s fully mixed.

Take a tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a 50g ball. Continue doing this until the mixture is finished.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
