Paris Fashion Week 2017: The chicest looks
Paris rounds off Fashion month in style
Paris rounds off Fashion month in style
It seems like only yesterday that New York Fashion Week started, and now it's time for Paris to close fashion month.
Saint Laurent took on Paris with power shoulders and puffballs
Anthony Vaccarello set the Paris skyline on fire for Saint Laurent's SS18 offerings, with a dazzling Paris Fashion Week 2017 show that ratcheted up his hard-edged, glamorous vision for Saint Laurent another notch – or several…
The collection was part bohemian (a reminder of Yves’ trippy 1970s moments in Marrekech), part 80s pumped up glamour (think Grace Jones power shoulders and puffball skirts) and we were introduced to THE new boots, in all their tasseled glory, replacing last season's sell-out disco ones.
Dior and the feminist icon
For Dior SS18, Maria Grazia Chiuri again took inspiration from literature for her feminist messaging, following last season’s sell-out t-shirts stating ‘We should all be feminists,’ borrowed from the title of the book written by the Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
This time, breton tops asked ‘Why have there been no great women artists?’; a quotation from a 1971 article by feminist art scholar, Linda Nochlin.
Balmain brought all the glamour
Olivia Rousteng loves a star turn, and the #Balmainarmy was out in force on the runway. Natalia Vodianova, Joan Smalls, Alessandra Ambrosio and Karolina Kurkova all walked, as did Jourdan Dunn and Natasha Poly. As for the collection, it was all about monochrome and ruffles. There were stripes, checks, fringing and lots of shiny wet-look PVC.
