The Fall: Why We're Still Recovering From The Final Episode

The Fall is over. There'll be no more Monday evenings wishing we could deliver ice cool one-liners à la Gillian Anderson's Stella Gibson, and no more guilty swooning over serial killer Paul Spector's (played by Jamie Dornan) incredible torso. But what did you think of the final episode?
GILLIAN ANDERSON IN THE FALL: FRIEND OR FOE TO FEMALE EMPOWERMENT
Even though we knew a second series had already been commissioned, we didn't quite expect such an unsatisfying cliffhanger. And so, we were left to endure a hide-behind-the-sofa-cushion hour-long episode of Paul Spector digging himself a bigger hole as DSI Gibson edged ever closer to outing him.
After his last attack went hideously wrong, this episode saw the killer voluntarily helping the police with their enquiries (giving finger prints and all), pretending to his wife he'd been having an affair with a 15-year-old (because that was the better option) and setting his car on fire with all his creepy sex attack souvenirs inside it.
The showdown between Stella Gibson and Paul Spector that we'd been looking forward to was never to be, sadly. Instead we had to make do with a heated phone call during which both detective and murderer lost their cool.
In the end, we saw Paul Spector clinging on to his web of lies by his bloodied fingernails and setting off to start a new life in Scotland with his begrudgingly forgiving wife and children in tow.

With so many loose ends and a misogynistic serial killer still on the loose, we can't wait to see what series two has in store for us.
