The Crown producers had to cut a sex scene between the Queen and Prince Philip

The Crown season 3 hits Netflix this month and I don't know about you, but we're all buzzing about it at MC HQ.
Even the royal family themselves are known to watch the show (although royal aides are reportedly concerned about this upcoming plot).
It'll be our first season with the new cast roster of Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret and Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, and we're excited to see how they fare in their royal roles.
However, we've recently learned something raaaather interesting about one of the previous seasons, courtesy of Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret in seasons one and two.
Turns out there was originally a sex scene involving the Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, that was eventually cut from the show, Her reports.
'There was a sex scene between Elizabeth and Philip in the first season,' Vanessa told Dolly Alderton on her Love Stories podcast. 'I think they were in South Africa filming, and they were like, "I just don’t think anyone wants to see the Queen having sex."'

We hear you, Vanessa. Probably for the best.
This wasn't the only sex scene that got cut, though, as another between Princess Margaret and Anthony Armstrong-Jones ended up getting the boot after lots of debate, too.
'It just became clear that to titillate was not the aim [of the show],' Vanessa explained. Fair enough, really.
The Crown is back on Netflix for season three on Sunday 17th November.
