A sneak peak at the hotly anticipated Swallows and Amazons film

The classic is coming to the big screen...
Similar to an afternoon of tea and scones (clotted cream, always), Swallows and Amazons is a quintessential English classic. Written by author Arthur Ransome, the book was first published in 1930, with the action taking place in the summer of 1929 on a remote island in the Lake District. What follows is a classic tale of intrigue and action, a plot ripe for the big screen…
Directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, the new Swallows and Amazons is set to be the smash of the summer and features a cast list featuring the who’s who of British talent. In order to whet your appetite before the release of the film on August 19th, here’s a first look at a brand new featurette, including the likes of Rafe Spall, Kelly Macdonald and Jessica Hynes…
In this exciting first look, we hear from the cast and crew of the film, as well as seeing some previously unseen scenes from the film. Both cast members and members of the production crew discuss how Swallows & Amazons fits into 2016. As the film's team discuss, a story about children who have total freedom to explore land and water is very different from the kind of childhood most kids experience today, but as the Swallows & Amazons team explain, an appetite for adventure and a sense of curiosity is just as real in children today as it was in the 1940's when the book and film are set.
The film hits the big screen on the 19th of August and is sure to be a favourite with children experiencing the story for the first time, or adults indulging in a trip back to childhood.
