So we’re well aware of the dangers of over-hyping a film (read: Suicide Squad), but this one really does look like it it’s worth getting excited about.
Out later this year, Collateral Beauty has one of the most star-studded line-ups we’ve seen in a while. Featuring Will Smith, Keira Knightley, Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Naomie Harris and Kate Winslet, and with award-winning producer Michael Sugar at the helm, it’s no surprise that’s it’s already being tipped for an Oscar nomination next year.
Will Smith plays lead character – an ad exec who, after experiencing tragedy, falls into a grief-stricken depression and begins to question what he explains as ‘the three pillars of humanity’ which connect everyone on Earth: love, time and death. Unsure what to do, he decides to write to each of these abstract concepts.
Here’s the twist – they all write back. Cue meetings Helen Mirren as Death and Keira Knightley as Love in what is bound to be a serious tear-jerker. Sure, it might be shamelessly pitching for an Oscar, but with such a great cast behind it, it’s definitely worth a watch.
Opening in UK on 26th December, we reckon this might be Christmas film we watch instead of the classic annual rerun of It’s a Wonderful Life this year. But hey, we’re not making any promises…
