We've got bad news for anyone backing a Brienne and Tormund romance in Game of Thrones season 8
WHAT?
WHAT?

Spoilers ahead, obviously
We spent the last seven seasons of Game of Thrones anxiously waiting for Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen to get together, only to a) have the whole fumble ruined by Bran being his new fun-sucking self and reminding us that they're aunt and nephew, and b) see Tyrion's long face as he listened to them do the dirty, which added an extra layer of creepy to the whole thing.
So now that Jaenerys has happened and forced us all to question our morals when it comes to incest, it feels like the right time to focus on Brienne's love life. All season, our favourite ginger Wilding Tormund has been smitten with the female knight, even professing his love for her to The (amused) Hound on their walk north of the wall.
'I have a beauty waiting for me back at Winterfell, if I ever get back there. Yellow hair, blue eyes, tallest women you’ve ever seen. Almost as tall as you! I want to make babies with her. Think of them, great big monsters. They’d conquer the world!' he cried, and we were beyond excited by the prospect of little (huge) Tormienne kids.
However, as with all the show's storylines, never expect to get what you want. Not only are we unsure of Tormund's fate in Game of Thrones season 8 following that whole undead dragon attack on The Wall at Eastwatch, but actress Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth, has hinted that it's not going to happen. Boo.

In an interview with the New York Times, Gwendoline said: 'Do you think she actually likes [Tormund]? I don’t think it’s something Brienne wants! Tormund is quite a rough and ready man. He’s a man who’s bragged about having sexual intercourse with a bear, and so I question whether that is necessarily the right person for Brienne.
'Does that man display enough sensitivity? What do you think Tormund would have to come up with to win her heart?'
Fair. But he is hilarious. And you know what they say about bearded men.
She went on to say: 'I think he’d have to have a conversation with her for at least four years. She seems fairly repelled by Tormund’s strong overtures toward her. She’s more enthused by a more cerebral approach.'
However, there is someone else who fans have been shipping to become Brienne's love interest. She's had a longstanding relationship with Jaime Lannister, and now that he's finally ditched his deranged sister to join the wight fight up north, there's every chance the pair could finally get together after all these years.
'When Brienne and Jaime are together, something incredibly magnetic seems to occur,' Gwendoline told the publication.
'[But] Look at her choices: the man who brags about having sex with a bear, or the man who has sex with his sister! Maybe there’s another option? I really want her to have someone more stable.
'I don’t know. I’m a bit surprised by how much attention the most unconventional female character on the show has garnered for her love life.'
The entire show is founded on love and war, and considering that we've got two years to wait until season 8 we've got a lot of time to speculate about both.
