Critics have voted this the best TV show of 2017

2017 might have had plenty of bad bits, but television wasn't one of them.
With brilliant book adaptations (Big Little Lies), edge-of-seat police dramas (Line of Duty), royal sagas (The Crown) and Game of Thrones, there was never any reason to moan about having nothing to watch.
And now that we've waved goodbye to 2017, one show in particular has been voted into the top spot.
In a poll by the Radio Times, UK critics scored Blue Planet 2 as the best TV show of 2017.
14.1 million people tuned in to watch the first episode of the show when it aired on 29th October last year, featuring gender-changing fish, surfing dolphins and a clip of a walrus and its pup that hammered home the effects of global warming. The show later became the most-watched of 2017, with an overall viewing audience of 17 million.
Other shows which scored highly in the poll were Doctor Foster, Catastophe, Apple Tree Yard and The Crown.
Jed Mercurio's Line of Duty came second in the poll.
But in the end, 91-year-old David Attenborough's extraordinary series trumped the lot by 'a large margin.'
The big question now: when is the next instalment?
