People are really pissed off about the Dirty Dancing remake

Dirty Dancing fans, maybe it’s best to stay away from this one. The new and highly anticipated reboot of the 80s hit has just hit British shores and despite its star-studded cast, people really aren’t happy about it.
The three hour long Dirty Dancing remake was finally shown yesterday on Channel 5, after being streamed on ABC in the US just a few weeks ago. The made-for-TV film followed the events of the original movie, as well as providing an epilogue to show what happened to Baby and Johnny after he drove off into the sunset. Starring Abigail Breslin (better known for movies like Little Miss Sunshine) and newcomer Colt Prattes as the starstruck lovers, Nicole Scherzinger, Debra Messing and Sarah Hyland also added a dose of star power to the roster.
The film received pretty poor reviews in the US, with Rolling Stone going as far to say, ‘This is one Baby that should have stayed in the corner’. Unsurprisingly, the UK has followed suit in panning the film which opens with a hilariously low-budget green screen shot of New York and a shoddy recreation of the iconic Dirty Dancing lift.
The fans were the harshest of all. Twitter's a minefield.
Best reactions to the Dirty Dancing remake
Yikes. Not even Nicole Scherzinger could save this hot mess. It looks like a reboot of Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights isn't on the cards. Also side note: if you've never seen Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights - don't.
Here’s hoping that the Emily Blunt Mary Poppins remake fares better...
