With the MTV Movie Awards kicking off this Sunday, take a look back at our most memorable moments ever
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair's Best Kiss acceptance
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair put on a spectacular display for the cameras when they took home Best Kiss for their scene in Cruel Intentions in 2000. Recreating the film's steamiest moment, the girls giggled as they performed for the audience.
Lindsay Lohan's presenting skills
Lindsay Lohan hosted the awards in 2004, fresh from her hit with Mean Girls. Far from her recent wild partying ways, back then La Lohan was the picture of teenage responsibility and worked the stage like a pro. At the tender age of 17, she was also one of the few to host the show alone, fitting in a staggering seven costume changes on the night.
Justin Timberlake and Seann William Scott's American Pie adventure
Justin Timberlake took to the stage with Seann William Scott at the height of American Pie's success in 2003. As well as taking part in a hilarious Matrix parody, Seann also appeared on stage in nothing but some teeny tiny Justin Timberlake pants. Oh dear. The terrible twosome got up to all sorts of on-stage antics, and needless to say, it was the last time MTV ever allowed stars to host in pairs.
Mike Myers' hilarious hosting skills
Mike Myers hosted the awards for the second time in 2008, and didn't disappoint, amusing the audience with a whole host of hilarious antics. Kicking off the show with a dance off against Chris Brown, the Austin Powers superstar also treated stars to a side-splitting Wayne's World sketch.
Jim Carrey's unusual red carpet ensemble
Taking home the title of biggest ever winner at the MTV Movie Awards, Jim Carrey has picked up an amazing 11 prizes during his time. And the star has definitely had his share of memorable moments. But the best of all had to be when, fresh from his success in Bruce Almighty, the Jim arrived to accept his Generation award dressed as an angel.
Danny McBride and Will Ferrell's white cat moment
Danny McBride and Will Ferrell were presenting the best comedic performance prize in the style of evil villains, apparently. The stars both appeared on stage stroking white cats (not real!) at the show in 2009.
Kristen Stewart drops her Best Female award
Oh no K-Stew! The shy stars butterfingers got the better of her at the awards in 2009, when she accidentally threw her Best Female gong to the floor. Cringe! Poor Kristen looked like she wanted the stage to swallow her up. But lovely Cameron Diaz came to her rescue, plucking the award from the floor and shepherding Kristen out of the spotlight.
Sacha Baron Cohen's Eminem stunt
Appearing as his latest alter ego, gay fashionista Brüno, Sacha Baron Cohen sensationally fell from the ceiling clad in angel wings, knee-high boots and a bum-flashing thong at the awards in 2009, landing on top of seemingly shocked rapper Eminem. The Slim Shady star looked less than amused as Bruno hung suspended in his lap, and was heard screaming, 'Are you serious? Are you f****** serious?' before storming out in front of a flabbergasted audience. Sense of humour failure? Well actually not. MTV later confirmed the stunt was set up.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's Best Kiss acceptance
The cheeky pair caused an almighty stir at the awards in 2009 when they collected their prize for Best Kiss. Robert and Kristen faced tough competition, beating off the likes of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and Freida Pinto and Dev Patel to clinch the award. But a standard acceptance speech wasnt enough for these two. Oh no. The teasing Twilight twosome came an inch away from recreating their steamy winning smooch on stage much to the delight of an ecstatic audience - only for Kristen to pull away at the last moment and declare into the mic Thank you so much! Phew!
Tom Cruise and Robert Pattinson's 2010 trailer
Twilight s sultry leading man Robert Pattinson has proved he has quite the talent for comedy, by teaming up with Tom Cruise for a hilarious promo spot for the MTV Movie Awards 2010. With Cruise looking unrecognisable as he reprises his role as movie exec Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder, R-Patz steps up to play himself, and proves happy to mock his famous locks in the process. Chatting to Cruise, in Grossman mode, the Brit actor says he might embark on some serious male preening before the big film awards, and may even shampoo his notoriously disheveled 'do. Proving neither big name takes them self too seriously, the skit is pure comedy gold.
