Taylor Swift just made a political speech after Trump's comments about her music

'You know what else is voted on by the people? The midterm elections.'

This week Taylor Swift broke her political silence, voicing her personal views on the subject for the first time ever - and let’s just say it was bad news for the Republican party.

‘I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love,’ Taylor Swift announced, voicing her disapproval of candidate Marsha Blackburn.

‘As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me,’ Taylor continued. ‘She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values. I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives.’

Donald Trump responded and despite once calling the 28-year-old Look What You Made Me Do singer ‘fantastic’, he now seems to have changed his mind.

‘She’s a tremendous woman, I’m sure Taylor Swift doesn’t know anything about her,’ Trump announced this week in response, going on to explain that he likes ‘Taylor’s music about 25% less now’.

At last night’s American Music Awards, Taylor responded, using her acceptance speech to classily put the focus back on what she deems the most important factor - that people are actually using their voices to vote.

'This award and every single award given out tonight are voted on by the people,' Taylor announced to the audience. 'And you know what else is voted on by the people? The midterm elections on Nov. 6. Get out and vote, and I love you guys'.
