An awkward (and sexist) interview of Sofia Vergara and Gordon Ramsay is going viral
And the internet is NOT happy.
And the internet is NOT happy.
Sofia Vergara is one of the most talked-about women in the world, and whether it’s her sweet relationship with husband Joe Manganiello or her hilarious life quotes, she never fails to make viral news.
The Modern Family star made headlines today however for all the wrong reasons, as a 2010 interview of Sofia Vergara and Gordon Ramsay on the Jay Leno Show resurfaced.
The interview clip has definitely angered the internet, accused of being not only awkward but also deeply sexist, with the Kitchen Nightmares chef objectifying Sofia, touching the actress’ leg and repeatedly interrupting her stories to make sexual innuendos.
Talking about the differences between her and her loud character, Gloria, Sofia explained,’ I never scream like my character in real life’, to which Gordon replied, ‘Really? Only in the bedroom?’
Other highlights included Gordon insinuating that her breasts were the reason Sofia couldn’t run, touching her leg despite her saying ‘no touching’, and the host asking if she had gained weight on holiday, prompting the response: ‘What sort of a question is that? He doesn’t respect me.’
It’s hardly surprising therefore that the clip has been shared thousands of times on Twitter in the past day alone, with angry viewers coming out in force

‘Wow, I really liked Gordon Ramsay until now,’ one viewer tweeted. ’The way he treated Sofia Vergara was disappointing and disrespectful.’ Another posted, ‘I can’t believe that some people still use “he’s a man” as an excuse for shitty actions.’
Sofia has opened up about being objectified before, explaining in a 2016 interview with Net a Porter that she prefers ‘to make a joke out of it’.
‘I’ve never understood why women get so offended,’ she explained to the publication. ‘I just don’t believe in all that drama, which is why I’ve made a whole joke out of it. I am secure enough not to take it all that seriously, and I like to laugh at myself.’
Gordon has yet to respond.
