Selena Gomez and The Weeknd just made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala
And it's too much.
And it's too much.
The 2017 Met Gala took place on Monday, seeing stars from all over gather at the Metropolitan Museum in New York for the annual event, with this year’s theme being the iconic Comme des Garçons fashion designer, Rei Kawakubo.
Last night’s Met Gala made headlines for Taylor Swift’s surprising absence, Jennifer Lopez’s date and the avant-garde red carpet looks from Katy Perry and Rihanna.
The biggest surprise, however, came from Selena Gomez and The Weeknd, who used the event to make their red carpet couple debut.
Wearing a cream floor length Coach gown and jewellery from Tiffany & Co., Selena took to the red carpet with her boyfriend, Abel Makkonen Tesfaye (The Weeknd), sharing a few kisses and posing for the cameras.
Both Selena, 24, and Abel, 27, shared couple photos from the red carpet to their Instagram accounts that evening and according to reports, their behaviour inside the gala only got sweeter.
‘They were sitting together by a fire pit and never left each other’s side. He was kissing her forehead and holding her hand’, sources told E!. ‘They weren’t drinking, just eating pizza and chatting. People were partying hard, but Selena and the Weeknd really stayed low-key and off to the side. They danced a little bit and walked around holding hands. They took selfies and then cuddled up together. They were really focused on each other and looked very serious and in love.’

The couple’s red carpet debut wasn’t good news for everyone, however, with The Weeknd’s ex girlfriend and 2016 Met Gala date, Bella Hadid, arriving just minutes after the couple.
Bella and The Weeknd split in November, following a widely-publicised romance, with People confirming the news, releasing the statement:
