Reese Witherspoon praises Shailene Woodley for being an ‘eco-warrior’
And she’s not the only one…
And she’s not the only one…
Shailene Woodley is known for championing sustainability, using her profile to raise awareness around projects close to her heart – with her peaceful protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016 even leading to her getting arrested.
Gracing the cover of Marie Claire UK for our sustainability issue this month, Shailene Woodley opens up about the arrest, her fight against Donald Trump and her tips for how to be an environmental activist.
Yesterday she posted the cover shot to her 2.5 million Instagram followers, alongside a powerful statement about the environment.
‘Thank you, @marieclaireuk, for the opportunity to sit down and talk about why sustainability can be both invigorating and uncomfortable, but vital nonetheless for the progress of future generations,’ the 25-year-old posted alongside her cover shot. ‘More often than not, it is the unsung heroes who end up changing the world.’
She continued: ‘I'm grateful to have this platform to be vocal about the issues most important to me, but all my words and wisdom are simply borrowed from the hearts and souls whom live on the front lines of change each and every day.’
‘To all the warriors and water protectors from Standing Rock and beyond: we are in this together,’ she concluded. ‘You are not forgotten. Thank you for your courage and your bravery in protecting our beautiful Mama.’
