Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially parents, as the royal couple excitedly announced the news that Baby Sussex had arrived.

‘We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz,’ read a statement from the couple via their Sussex Royal Instagram page.

A post confirmed that the royals had been told, announcing: ‘The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.’

The statement continued: ‘The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage. Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well.’

We know that the Queen reportedly receives a phone call after the birth, but how did the other extended royals find out?

Well, it has emerged this week that Prince Harry told the family via WhatsApp.

Yes, we finally have confirmation that there is a big royal family WhatsApp group, and Harry broke the news on there.

Zara Phillips’ husband Mike Tindall revealed that he found out from the group, going on to say of Harry, ‘He’ll be a great dad.’
