Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially parents, with the royal couple excitedly announcing the news today that their son, Baby Sussex, has arrived.
'We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz,' read a statement from the couple via their Sussex Royal Instagram page earlier today.
'The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.'
‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs this morning,’ a statement from the Royal Family announced, going on to inform the public that the extended family had been notified and were ‘delighted with the news’.
But it is Prince Harry’s statement that got the world talking today, with the Duke of Sussex stepping outside of his Frogmore Cottage home to deliver a statement on the new arrival.
‘I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning, a very healthy boy,’ Prince Harry announced to the media. ‘Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It has been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension.’

He continued: ‘We are both thrilled and are so grateful to all of the love and support out from everybody out there. We are still thinking about names. The baby is a little bit overdue so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it, but that’s the next bit.
‘We will be seeing you guys in two days time as planned to everybody can see the baby. I haven’t been in many births, this is definitely my first birth. I am so incredibly proud of my wife.’
‘As every father and parent would say, your baby is absolutely amazing,’ he went on to explain before saying, ‘this little thing is absolutely to die for – I am over the moon.’
Well that is just lovely.
Congratulations again to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and welcome to their little baby boy!
