Prince Harry Meghan Markle second baby - when can we expect the Baby Sussex number two?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child together in May this year, naming their newborn son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The couple introduced baby Archie to the world two days later, posing for photographs, but other than a few surprise appearances the three Sussexes have been spending their time at Frogmore Cottage bonding as a family.

It’s unsurprising therefore that speculation has been rising around every aspect of baby Sussex’s life, from who his Godparents are to the nursery colour palette of choice. But the most talked-about aspect is undoubtedly whether he will be joined by a royal sibling, with rumours emerging that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already prepping for baby number two.

Replying to a fan question about whether she thinks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have a second baby, E!'s chief royal correspondent Melanie Bromley said: 'I do, and I think it will be really soon. I think she will be pregnant by this time next year.

'They have Africa in the [autumn], which will keep them really busy, so after that.'

This is something that royal expert Katie Nicholl weighed in on in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight - and it’s pretty exciting.

'People are already speculating about baby number two for the Sussexes,' she explained. 'I think it’s probably a little premature to be speaking about a second baby. That said, sources close to the couple told me that they really would love to have a big family. They are, by all accounts, amazing parents. They are loving parenthood.'

She continued: 'They absolutely want siblings for Archie, so possibly we will have a pregnancy announcement - a second pregnancy announcement for Meghan and Harry sometime next year - but, for the moment, the focus is obviously on Archie.'

The Duke of Sussex has spoken about how much he is enjoying fatherhood. During a speech at The Diana Award National Youth Mentoring Summit in London he said: 'Perhaps it’s the newfound clarity I have as a father knowing that my son will always be watching what I do, mimicking my behaviour, one day maybe even following in my footsteps.

'But it’s not just my role as a father that shows me that; it’s the people I see every day that don’t realise how inspirational they are to those watching.'

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first two children are close in age; Prince George was born in July 2013 and Princess Charlotte arrived in May 2015.

Will Harry and Meghan follow suit?
