The past few months have seen over 55 women come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct and in some cases rape against Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein.
The influx of allegations has also brought to light how the disgraced movie mogul covered up his actions, with news emerging that the 65-year-old orchestrated a smear campaign to blacklist actresses who turned down his sexual advances, most notably Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd.
‘I recall Miramax telling us they were a nightmare to work with and we should avoid them at all costs,’ Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson explained of Weinstein’s pressure not to hire either Sorvino or Judd. ‘At the time, we had no reason to question what these guys were telling us. But in hindsight, I realize that this was very likely the Miramax smear campaign in full swing. I now suspect we were fed false information about both of these talented women.’
‘There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure,’ 50-year-old Mira posted to her Twitter account. ‘Thank you Peter Jackson for being honest. I’m just heartsick.’
Since the news broke, other directors have come forward with similar stories, with US filmmaker Terry Zwigoff publicly apologising to the Academy Award winning actress.
‘I was interested in casting Mira Sorvino in BAD SANTA,’ Zwigoff explained. ‘But every time I mentioned her over the phone to the Weinsteins, I’d hear a CLICK. What type of person just hangs up on you like that?! I guess we all know what type of person now. I’m really sorry Mira.’

Someone who isn’t prepared to let Weinstein get away with it is Mira’s father, 78-year-old actor Paul Sorvino who unleashed his anger against the disgraced producer in an interview with TMZ this week.
‘If I meet him on the street, he ought to hope he goes to jail because if we come across, I think he'll be lying on the floor somehow magically,’ the 78-year-old explained. ‘If I had known it, he would not...be walking. He'd be in a wheelchair. I will kill the motherfucker.’
He continued: ‘My daughter is wonderful person and she doesn't deserve to have been treated that way by this pig. So this pig will get his comeuppance.’
‘He's going to go to jail and die in jail, but if he doesn't, Harvey, come here, I have some news for you.’
