Natalie Portman just became a mother for the second time! The Oscar-winning actress and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, just welcomed a new baby daughter last week. As for her name, it’s beautiful: Amalia.
‘Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied welcomed a baby girl, Amalia Millepied, on Feb. 22,’ her rep told People. ‘Mother and baby are happy and healthy.’
Baby Amalia’s birth totally explains the Jackie star’s absence from the 2017 Oscars ceremony on February 26th. Portman still attended both the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Award during her pregnancy, so at least we got a little taste of her killer maternity fashion.
Portman met her husband, a French choreographer, on the set of her 2010 film Black Swan — a psychological drama set in the realm of ballet. The couple married in August 2012 and are already proud parents to 5-year-old son Aleph.
Portman first debuted her baby belly at the Venice Film Festival in September while promoting her films Planetarium and Jackie. Portman’s role as former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis garnered a Best Actress nomination.

While the award ended up going to Emma Stone in La La Land, Portman is still a total winner for us. And now, she’s got her own new little bundle of joy.
We’re so excited for Natalie and Benjamin’s growing family! The world is in definite need of more rebel queens in the Galactic Senate.
